We are pleased to announce that Steven Dudeck, former Director, Technical and Post-Production Operations for the Oprah Winfrey Network, has joined MediaSilo as Enterprise Success Manager. He will be responsible for supporting client integrations and rollouts. We asked Steven to tell us a little about what drew him to his new position.

My experience with MediaSilo started 6 years ago when I was searching for a cloud-based media sharing service. At the time, I was a freelance designer and animator working with Adobe After Effects. I had just helped launch OWN the Oprah Winfrey Network, and soon after I was hired full time to take over the Post Production department, which was primarily responsible for producing around 20 – 40 on-air promos a day.

A friend suggested MediaSilo as a powerful solution for media management, as well as a robust collaborative platform. I was immediately impressed by the set of tools MediaSilo provided, allowing us to quickly adapt our unproductive workflow. For review and approval of just one promo, the team would have to be physically in the office to view cuts and make notes, which was a difficult task with offices in more than three different cities. First, the editors would export a QuickTime file, then the tech team would transcode and upload it to our FTP site. Once the remote producer had downloaded the clip, they would make notes in an email. The editor would make the changes and the process would start again. An endless, time killing loop. MediaSilo changed all that.

I worked with our Production, Marketing, PR, Digital, and Legal teams to create workflows in MediaSilo that allowed people at all points in the creative process to collaborate in one organized space. The adaptation of any new tool can be a big challenge in a busy production environment. With the help of the incredible people at MediaSilo on the engineering and development side, as well as our Account Manager, I was able to ease the transition by being available to the teams as they built out workflows that directly addressed needs across distinct departments and their individual requirements for media collaboration.

The industry is continually evolving and there are new challenges for traditional television networks and movie studios. Dedicated streaming services have upended the old model. I’m not sure how it will all shake out, but it’s obvious to me that workflows will become more specialized than ever. The pressures on today’s content creators to deliver quickly on multiple platforms require tools that adapt to each individual need. I’ve always viewed MediaSilo as the one tool that can fit perfectly between the production and delivery of content by simplifying workflows without adding yet another cumbersome task to the process. I am excited to help other companies use this powerful platform to streamline their workflows, increase productivity and focus more on creativity and less on technology!
