MediaSilo Sponsors Podcast

November 24th, 2008

<br />

If you’ve spent any time at all using MediaSilo, you know we’re dedicated to improving your workflow.  Well, now there’s a podcast dedicated to the same thing.  It’s called “Workflow Junkies,” and it’s actually the brianchild of MediaSilo CEO Kai Pradel.  Kai felt there was a big empty space in the podcast world when it came to workflow.  So, many phone calls later, “Workflow Junkies” is here.

Each week or so, WJ looks at news and happenings in the business and talks to creative pros about their workflow, tips and tricks.  It’s all designed to help you improve the way you do what you do.  So, check it out and don’t hesitate to offer your thoughts, ideas, criticism or guest suggestions.  “Workflow Junkies” is for you!

MediaSilo makes a trip to The Constitution State

November 18th, 2008

Join us and the CT PVA at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel tonight at 7pm.

Below is an outline of the evening:

DID YOU EVER WISH TO CLIMB MT. EVEREST?

Well, this month’s Key Speaker did, … and with a Video Camera to Boot!

Yes, you are expected to attend an exciting and interesting presentation by Video Journalist, Carolyn Moreau.  Bring guests too! Carolyn will join us at Tuesday’s meeting at the Meriden Four Points’s Sheraton Hotel and share her experiences taping around Connecticut and on the other side of the world (the higher side). You see, Carolyn is not only a video documentarian, but the staff video journalist for the Hartford Courant (the oldest continuously published newspaper in the country).  She’s got the low down on quickly creating video newsclips (that she shoots and edits), and putting them on the Courant’s website (www.courant.com) for all to see.

Carolyn will talk about video journalism as a profession,  as well as  her experiences shooting in foreign lands.  On her mountain climbing expedition, Carolyn traveled with her husband, Michael Kodas (one of the Courant’s staff photographers) who was covering a story for the paper.  He also wrote a very interesting book about their shared experience entitled: “HIGH CRIMES – The Fate of Everest, in an Age of Greed” (see: www.highcrimesbook.com).  It’s a tale that would make a intriguing movie once you hear what criminal activities actually take place on the slopes of the world’s highest peak (copies will be available for purchase).

Carolyn grew up in New Zealand and studied at the University of Cambridge.  After working for ten years as a reporter she picked up a video camera in 2003 and hasn’t  looked back.  She enjoys telling stories with digital video and you’ll find her presentation fascinating.  Make sure to attend this meeting and hear this exciting speaker’s insights to storytelling on video.

Carolyn will be our first presenter, and for a BONUS, we’ll have Lindsay Lacher-Katz (That’s me!), Marketing Manager for MediaSilo, A Boston based company the has a unique product that you can subscribe to, and park your video clips for client viewing on their web server (see: www.mediasilo.com).

You can provide online collaboration, manage video content and utilize publication tools that will save you time when time is critical.  Check them out, as Lindsay will give a product demo and keep you up to date in this ever changing video world.

Be sure to attend this meeting and enjoy this great twofer!   See you Tuesday evening.

There is a buffet dinner at 7pm followed by the first presenter at 8pm, and MediaSilo at 9pm.
